Claude de Vulpian, a beautiful dancer & a former etoile with The Paris Opera, dances in this hauntingly beautiful ballet by Norbert Schmucki. Music by Valera. This ballet is reminiscent of Fokines, "Dying Swan". Schmucki's work reminds one of the Mayfly. As I remember, they are very delicate and beautiful and are "born" without a mouth or stomach so they only live for a few hours.

Marianna Tcherkassky, former ballerina with ABT, and Frank Augustyn, former principal dancer with The National Ballet of Canada and Boston Ballet, perform the pas de deux from act II of Giselle. The lifts Augustyn performs with Therkassky in this are the most beautiful in any Giselle pas de deux I have ever seen. Marianna Therkassky is ethereal and sylphlike in this. Hilary Cartwright is Myrthe.

Sir Anton and Spessivtzeva discuss dancing the roles of Giselle and Albrecht. The footage of them dancing is from 1932. Spessivtzeva had suffered a nervous breakdown earlier and is probably medicated here (not while she is dancing!). She passed away in 1991.
